Ram 1500 Classic's final phase at Warren Truck Plant What are the upcoming changes

The Warren Truck Plant, which builds the Jeep Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer and Ram 1500 Classic, is now moving towards significant changes. AutoForecast Solutions recently reported that production of the Ram 1500 Classic will end this September. After this, only large Jeep SUVs will continue to be built at this plant.

According to Automotive News, with this change, steel and parts suppliers may face layoffs. The seating supplier has announced to lay off 63 employees permanently. However, Ram CEO Christine Fuell has confirmed that the 15-year-old truck will now be retired.

A Ram spokesperson said, “The Ram 1500 Classic has fully met the needs of commercial truck customers. With the introduction of the Tradesman trim on the new Ram 1500 for the 2024 model year, we say goodbye to the previous generation. The HEMI-powered Ram 1500 Classic will remain available through 2025.”

In the 2024 model year, the Ram 1500 Classic is still available with two grades – the base Tradesman and the off-road Warlock. The Tradesman starts at $40,700, while the Warlock is priced at $45,430. Both have a choice of a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine and a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine. For 2025, the Tradesman will get an upgraded twin-turbo 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six engine, but there will be no V8 engine option.

In good news for fans of the 1500 Classic, the supply of engines in the Warren truck line will continue for at least the next six months. Currently, Ram's e-shop has 3,643 units of the 2024 1500 Classic and 737 units of the 2023 model available.

With this change, truck enthusiasts and commercial customers will now focus on the new model, which will be available with new technology and better performance. This transformation of the truck shows a new direction for the future, and it remains to be seen how this new chapter unfolds.
