A fatal crash involving a Tesla Cybertruck in Texas has caught the attention of federal safety officials. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has sought information from Tesla to get to the bottom of the matter, in which the driver of the Cybertruck died.
The accident began on November 30, when the newly designed Tesla Cybertruck suffered a serious accident. According to reports, a truck left the road and hit a concrete culvert in the Baytown area of Chambers County on Monday morning and immediately burst into flames. Following the incident, the NTSB has sought detailed information from Tesla about the accident and fire.
Although the NTSB has not yet launched a formal investigation into the accident and has not sent accident investigators, information is being gathered from Tesla on their behalf. It is unclear whether the cause of the fire is being investigated, and whether the driver was using the partially automated driving system.
Previously, the Cybertruck was recalled twice in June to fix problems with trim pieces and a malfunctioning front windshield wiper. This is not the first time the Cybertruck has been recalled; it has been recalled four times since it was introduced.
Tesla and the Texas Department of Public Safety have been asked for comment on the matter, but no response has been received at this time. The accident raises serious questions about the safety of Tesla's new Cybertruck and raises concerns about potential problems with this vehicle in the future.
