ECD Auto Design Unveils Restomod Version of FJ Toyota Land Cruiser, Taking Customization to New Heights

FJ Toyota Land Cruiser
One of the leading names in the restored industry, ECD Auto Design, has taken on the FJ Toyota Land Cruiser as its latest project. The company, based in Kissimmee, Florida, has earned a reputation for its luxurious and customized Land Rover restomods, also known as "Rover Domes." Now, ECD has taken its expertise to a whole new level, focusing on the FJ40 and FJ60 Toyota Land Cruisers followed by vintage Jaguars and Mustangs.

This resto-mod project features a frame refurbishment to baseline spec, and Toyota's traditional six-cylinder engine is replaced with Chevrolet's 6.2-liter LS3 small-block V8 and six-speed automatic transmission. In addition, the cooling and fuel systems have been upgraded, and the exhaust system is made from stainless steel. The suspension has also been completely revamped, mated to heavy-duty axles, and four-wheel disc brakes have been added to every truck.

Exterior colors for the FJ Land Cruiser can include any OEM color in a gloss finish. Inside, the dash is painted the same color as the body panels, giving a great opportunity to choose the color of the hand-stitched leather seating. Every rig has air conditioning and extra insulation, which keeps the cabin temperature better. Restomod luxury elements include a Momo steering wheel, a Sony or Alpine head unit with Bluetooth, a backup camera, trailer wiring, LED lighting, and an alarm system.

Production is expected to begin in the third quarter of this year, and the first deliveries will take place early next year. Prices start at around $230,000, but the possibility of additional costs for customization can't be ignored. ECD says, "Everything on the FJ will be customizable, even down to the needlepoint on the gauges," making it clear that customers will get a unique and personalized experience.

This new move by ECD Auto Design will set a new standard in the restored industry, creating a lot of excitement among vintage car lovers.
