2026 Lexus RC F GT3 Successor Toyota GR GT3 Car Testing

Toyota has taken the automobile world by storm with its highly promising GR GT3 concept. Set to race in 2026, the model is evolving as a successor to the Lexus RC F GT3. In light of the recent spy video and developments at the Tokyo Auto Salon, we're ready to assess this car's autobiography.

Lexus
Spotted testing at Japan's Fuji Speedway, the high-performance coupe doesn't look as aggressive as the GR GT3. The most significant difference is the omission of the massive rear wing. This model does not have the side exhaust of a race car, and the front splitter is not quite as sticking out.

Elsewhere, the GR GT3's aggressive diffuser has been done away with at the rear, while the usual windshield wipers remain. These changes give the impression that the aerodynamic package and cooling system are not as hardcore as compared to the Toyota Racer.

According to Toyota WEC team director Rob Lupen, the street-legal car is the Lexus. The car's model name has yet to be revealed, but trademarks and rumors point to the "LFR" moniker. This high-performance coupe is not an LFA successor, but a successor to the RC F.

The GR GT3 has a sleek, low-slung look with an elongated hood. Spotted testing at the Motegi and Fuji Speedway tracks, the model suggests something pretty cool is in the works. Whatever powers the flagship sports car, it could be a V8. There seems to be enough room for eight cylinders under the hood, and perhaps a pair of turbochargers if the rumor mill is accurate.

Toyota hopes to unveil this race-ready coupe in 2025, as the GR GT3 will compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2026. We expect the road-going Lexus version to not be too far behind.
