Hispano Suiza: Celebrating the 120th anniversary of the Spanish brand with the new Carmen Sagrera

The Hispano Suiza brand, which once rocked the automobile world, is now reaching new heights again. Recently, this iconic Spanish brand has launched a new car to commemorate its 120th anniversary - the Carmen Sagrera.

The Carmen Sagrera maintains the same core structure as its predecessor model Carmen Boulogne, which includes a monocoque and bodywork made of carbon fiber. 

But many important improvements have been made in this new car. It has an upgraded battery pack of 103.0 kWh, which weighs only 1350 pounds, which is much lighter than the 1750-pound battery of the previous model. 

This has not only improved the car's battery life but also improved the weight distribution, which is now closer to 50:50.

Power and Performance

The Carmen Sagera uses four 275-hp electric motors that produce a combined peak power output of 1100 horsepower. This powertrain configuration provides the car with an incredible 855 pound-feet of torque. In addition, the Sagera also features a "virtual differential" that uses a software algorithm to manage the different amounts of torque going to each rear wheel, making the driving experience even better.

Advanced Design and Cooling Systems

The improvements made to the Sagera's design can be clearly seen, especially at its rear. A new "stork wing-shaped" rear spoiler has been added to the car, which improves the car's aerodynamics. In addition, the car has additional vents at the front and rear for better cooling, making its performance even more impressive.

Hispano Suiza has also redesigned the interior of the Carmen Sagrera. Designed in collaboration with Italy's Italdesign, the cabin now includes a new center console for the direction control buttons, making it even more modern and user-friendly.

Limited edition and high price

According to Hispano Suiza CEO Sergio Martinez Campos, the company has delivered four Carmen models so far, and four more are under construction. The Carmen Sagrera will have a limited production run, and customers who order it will have to wait about nine months for delivery. The price of this luxurious car will be €2.5 million (about $3.2 million).

Future plans

Although Carmen Sagrera will be available in the US only under "show and display", Hispano Suiza has high hopes for the US market. Given this growing interest, the company is planning to open its first dealership in Miami.
